Love You More Valentine Containers

Hey Technique Junkies, Janelle Stollfus here today with a little treat to share. I'm spotlighting the new Love You More Stamp Set with 5 sentiments perfect to make a set of simple yet fun treat containers.

This is an easy project that comes together quickly, and I love how they turned out, but I do want to warn you that the tutorial below is a bit long so don't be discouraged from trying it out.

Directions:

This tutorial uses a variation on the Spattered Ombre tutorial that will allow the paper to be cut into four smaller pieces of ombre paper. Repeat steps 1 - 4 to make as many as needed.
  1. Wet watercolor paper with water, enough so you can see it is wet.
  2. Begin painting at the top from side to side with a loaded paintbrush and move to the center until all the paint is on the paper. Repeat from the bottom towards the center.
  1. Spatter rubbing alcohol with a clean paintbrush and let dry or use a heat tool to quickly dry.
  2. Cut paper into fourths about 4-1/2 by 6 inches. (I folded the paper in half and pinched for the halfway marks to cut out four pieces.)
  1. Use double-sided sticky tape along the short edge and about two-thirds across the top left and bottom center. (click image to enlarge)
  2. Roll paper to train it into a tube before removing backing liner. Remove liner on the side and top left, then roll it to attach sides only.
  3. Pinch the end together with the side seam from step 6 to the left.
  1. Fill the container to about 1-inch from the top with goodies and close the second end, so the side seam is in the middle.
  2. Press both ends together with a bone folder or a crimper tool. We wouldn't want the treats to fall out.

  1. Stamp sentiments on white paper and cut loosely around each one.
  2. Glue sentiment to a 1-inch strip of pattern paper that is a longer than the sentiment and has one end cut for a fishtail banner.
  3. Clothespin the sentiment piece to the treat and tie with a bow either around the whole container or just the sentiment. You could also staple the sentiment if clothespins aren't available.
That's it! Thanks for hanging out with me today!
